I have to VENT

I try to be even tempered most of the time. Too much trouble comes from just letting it rip but right now I am just so PISSED. Yes, you read that right. Smiling and sunny Annie is PISSED and venting about it.

My job keeps me buried under mountains of paper and deadlines most of the time. I rely heavily on my work study student to be here and do a lot of the legwork. I had a terrific student for three years but she graduated last year. The replacement has not been nearly as reliable.

She didn't show up last week for three days. She was sick but didn't call to let me know. Now this week she isn't around AGAIN and no call. In the meantime the deadlines are crowding me, deliveries and pickups are being delayed, posters and fliers aren't getting posted, mailings aren't getting done and I'm having to call the theatre department to find out if there is anyone who can run an errand for me. Thank God there is always a student around drama to help pick up the slack. If I did all this myself, I wouldn't be at my desk 3 hours out of 8 everyday. In the meantime, I have faculty coming in venting at me because things that need to be done aren't getting DONE.

I am sooooooo PISSED!!!!!

Dear Annie ((hugs)) and smiles for one very pissed!! lady.

I wonder after reading your post if you could not simply let that one go and have another more worthy student working with you, it is odvious that this one is not suitable or up to the job so their worth is less then nothing so I would be looking for another.

Of course I have no idear how this all works but I hate to see my friend all riled up!! ((smiles))

The music is ever so soothing thanks for that "love it"

Unfortunately, Lee-Ann, it's getting to the end of the academic year and the money has run out. I'm stuck with this situation until next year.

Oh I know that feeling so well!!!!
Had this a few times over the years with different people...so strange how different personalities and attitudes can shape people to be discipined and reliable......

I'm so sorry your student is not showing up and especially not showing the responsibility of having a job by calling in when she can't fulfill her responsibilities (common courtesy aside). I'm glad you're able to draw upon neighboring resources for crisis help but hope your student will return as scheduled soon.

sometimes a good vent can be quite cathartic. Being human things are bound to piss you off sometimes - and it's good to just put it out there and release. first I truly hope this all gets sorted out and you can get someone who will be much more reliable. You want to know something? i kind of liked seeing this side of you. It goes to show that even the sunniest people have these moments. :)

So sorry you're having to go through all this, Annie! Who wouldn't be venting in your place? Let's hope the situation improves soon and you get the help needed for all those little time-consuming tasks. xo

Oh yes, I have certainly had those moments! Our work lives are so often dependent on others, aren't they? I've recently lost my partner at work, and it's been really hard trying to train someone new/pick up the slack, etc.
Some days, I too get very pissed!!

I hope you feel better now ;)
