Angry morning sky
blocked sunlight, turned day to
night bringing caution.

Downpours and wind gusts
capriciously scatter
summer's last remains

I always love the poetry, but I think I'm a more visual person-meaning your second photo blew me away. What a great job at composition! Intentional? Accidental? Wonderful.

Hi Annie - I'm posting a second time because I know you have to approve comments - but I'm not sure if I clicked published after I previewed my comment. In case I didn't do it right - I'll tell you again -

Happy New Year! I like the second haiku with the photo - very nice!

Happy New Year Annie! I hope you're doing well - if you don't mind me asking, what on earth does offal mean in America!? I was totally stumped, over here it is just things like liver and kidneys, brains, hearts etc. Never been fond of the latter two, though stuffed lamb's hearts was a wartime dish (which was apparently delicious!).

I do quite a bit of cooking "by eye" - I love food and it comes naturally I suppose, do you do much cooking?

My experience with the "cautious" part was that at 4 a.m. this old lady found herself outside in 65mph winds repairing a steam awning over her bedroom window. The wind had blown it loose and it was banging against my exterior bedroom wall sounding like a car was crashing into my home every 5 minutes. I was just one person, with that one experience. So I count my blessings, for oh so many others did not fare with only a slight inconvenience like I had. Sacramento was in a state of quiet, non movement, shock for days after that worst night. And the storm attacked the full height of the west coast and raged over the Sierra Nevada.

Global Climate Change is real and each and everyone of us can make a difference should we choose to.
