Last day and new beginnings

It's the last day of 2012 and as the end of the year closes in, I find that my two most heartfelt prayers have been answered.  Quanah has a job and Krista is engaged.  My two chicks are settled or on their way to being settled.   No sooner do I have the doors close on these prayers than another one burst wide open.  And this one is driven by  --- vanity.

One daughter + One ring = One wedding.  One load of excess baggage + One wedding = One Diet.  Yes, that plaguing hoary friend, that pestering antiquated relic, has come roaring out at me.  So what's a girl to do, especially when history is not on her side?

A few days ago, my friend Lotus posted a challenge.  Now generally I'm scrupulous about avoiding challenges.  I don't like deadlines and since retiring, deadlines have been poison to me. But an even more poisonous fruit would be taking a bad wedding picture.  My daughter deserves a perfect day and getting a healthier mom is the best gift I can give her.  So, rising to Lotus' challenge, I'm going to loss enough weight to get off my blood pressure medication.  That would be the best gift I could give to her.

I won't be posting about this.  I have a journal at myfitnesspal.com that will catch all my triumphs and dramas.  However, I DO have a weight loss progress program on my sidebar so as you see the numbers changing there, you will see that I'm on track with the challenge.

In the meantime, I send you all very happy new year greetings and wishes that all YOUR prayers come true in 2013.

Dear Annie,
I'm so happy that your prayers were answered. And even more happy that you give the glory to God.
I need to lose some weight too.
Like you say, the best to give ones near and dear ones.
I will not follow a diet though.
I know controlled eating does the trick, plus ban white sugar.
It's the self control that's the crucial point. I think I'll make it though. So will you.

I agree entirely, Elise. No diet, just wise choices and more activity. I'm eliminating white processed foods and sugars. That will make a big different.

Annie I can just imagine how happy you are with daughter's engagemenet!!
Happiness!Congratulations!!
Every mother struggles with how she'll look on said day?" There is in most cases a "DIET" to be followed!
Pictures show us the truth. You go girl!
Take one day at a time and stay focused.Make yourself a board with before pics and gradual loss pics. Make comparisons to various lbs of flour sacks. Lift them up after your accomplishments. Pick up a 5lb-er..that's how much you've lost so far!!!Again congrats!
I struggle presently with having to lose too because I have severe hip and knee pain due to arthritis. I know sheddings lbs. whould ease my pain. Less weight for the joints to support. So here I go too. Off the carbs for the next 2 months. Natureboy is also going to try this.
We have both read the
"Wheat Belly" and now motivated to get busy shedding the weight and encouraging one another!
Here's to our successess, our better health, and the new path we follow!
Blessings to you dear friend! Wishing you a Happy New Year and a New you! xo

What great news regarding both of your children. There is nothing better to a mother than her child's happiness.
