Having a moment

I'm enjoying a very quiet day today.  It's raining and chilly and the oven heat is drifting into the kitchen.  It seems like when winter hits I am more inspired to get creative in the kitchen.  There are chicken breasts in the oven simmering in a lime/cilantro sauce.  Next to them, in another dish, is an acorn squash I brought home from Santa Rosa.  I haven't made one in years and I'm sure looking forward the the sweet maple syrup and cinnamon adventure that will land on my plate this evening.

In between reading and cooking, the little boys are hanging out on the sofa with me.  Tanner is giving my foot a bath while Delaware scratches and itch and then peers down into Tanner space, pawing at his tongue.  Tanner is very patient.

No pictures today.  Just simple musings as the day passes by.

Wonderful. I love cooking and it's much nioer to have the oven on when it's cool/cold out. Sounds sweet.

This post sounds so yummy! I bet your house smells great right now. I, too, have chicken cooking...Hawaiian chicken in the crock pot and I'm baking some coffee flavored cookies for later tonight. We both must be inspired by the weather although it hasn't gotten too cold or rainy here yet.

Just finished my acorn squash. So good. Picking up another on next week. Tomorrow night is spaghetti squash.

Coffee flavored cookies? That sounds wonderful. I will look around for a recipe.

Sounds wonderful. I think most of us rush around too much, for whatever reason. It is spiritual to be still and rest and listen.

It's always nice to see what's happening on (almost) the other side of the world :) There is nothing like a dog giving you a foot bath! Our chihuahua would lick hands and feet, but particularly faces, whether you wanted it or not - though her breath was not so nice!

How do you prepare an acorn squash that includes cinnamon and maple syrup (my two favourite things!)? It sounds delicious.
