Reminisce Interlude

For about 25 years, I didn't have a bike. Then I got the idea, a few years ago, to buy a bike.  I picked one up at Target, a cool cruiser, all pink and girlie. Then I proceeded to TRY to ride the bike.

One month later, I was still a total scaredy cat trying to actually get ON the bike.  My sense of balance was totally shot.  I did get up eventually and then took a few trips to the store and back and cruising the neighborhoods.  It beat walking and felt a lot more effective too.

But just when I started feeling fairly confident on a bike, the tire went flat.  So, I fixed it.  It went flat again.  That was it.  Enough was enough.

First I couldn't get on the bike.  Then I found my balance. Finally.  Then the back tire went flat.  I fixed it. Then it went flat AGAIN.   Upshot?  I gave the blasted thing away.  My fancied love affair with bikes was so DONE.

Awwww! It is good exercise and sounds like fun! You just need to stop riding down dark scary alleys with nails scattered everywhere!!!

Oh, yeah, Ginny. I forgot to mention the 500 lb canary in the alley saying "Here, kitty, kitty, er, bikey, bikey, bikey. LOL

Recently got a bike to join Lee riding....found I prefer walking. Now when Lee and I go around the neighborhood I walk and he rides circles around me. Ah retired life.

There's a time for everything.
I still have a bike, the symbol of good intention never being carried through. Maybe this spring, when the ice and darkness are gone.

I've given a bike some thought. I think my solution would be one of those three wheelers. Technically an adult tricycle I think. No balance problem and a nice little basket in the back.

I don't ride my bike much any more and between uses the tire goes flat and I have to wait for my husband to blow it up and then I get one ride and it's flat again. It is very handy, though, in warmer weather, to cold, snowy and icy now, to go to the library and places that are just a little beyond easy walking range.
