Two months ago I brought six of my framed photographs to a gallery for display. Filled with excitement, I was sure I was on the road to selling my work. Now, two months later, I am more sober in my assessment of my selling potential.
A couple of weeks ago, my long acquaintance with Dana, a shop owner in Turlock's downtown historic district lead me to another possibility - selling my cards and notebooks.
Getting there provided me with a learning curve. Choose my images. To make or not to make a label for the back. Find cellophane sleeves to protect the cards (not easy). Determine a price that isn't too high but at the same time, gets me the minimum back after selling through the shop.
Above is my display at The Emporium. Keeping my fingers crossed. After setting this up, I went back over to the gallery. I'll keep my work over there another month and then move on to someplace else. Ninety days is enough exposure without movement. Onward and outward.

Always onward and upward but take heart, it will sell when you least expect it to. Good luck and I think it's great that you are putting yourself out there.
Good for you, Annie! I think sometimes cards go better (the challenge is that not as many people post things as they used to). But they are small, frameable if someone wants, less expensive and a good entre.
I know what you mean about finding a set-up. I use envelopes from Photographers Edge which are very nice and on occasion I find some in the cake decorating section of Michael's. Go figure. Where did you get yours and are you happy? I'm proud of you!
The notebooks looks so pretty, I do hope they sell!
