Sunday Scribbles - ROOTS

Rooted in my past
to family
to values
to ideas
to experiences
Rooted in my own history

Rooting in change
in growth
in maturity
in new experiences
Rooting in fresh and fertile soil.

The roots of the past
unravel
release
expand and
push out
The roots of the present
making
Roots for the future.

I think that you're so right about how all the roots-- past, present and future-- are there within us right now. Cool poem.

I like this poem a lot Annie.

It is to the point and captures the cyclical essence of roots in a nice turn through the final stanza.

Well done!

I agree with everyone. There's a column on PT that talks about commenting poems on blogs, and i comment now with that comumn in the back of my mind.

I like this poem for many reasons. Its simplicity allows it to speak to me honestly; the theme of what roots are, do, though universal, relates especially well to folks like myself (though I'm not going to bare my soul here and now=.

Wouldn't touch the poem, except for one word: "out" instead of "up" in the last stanza. Thanks Annielf, for your voice.
