Scraps

I was cleaning out my studio and ran across quite a lot of scrap fiber from various projects. I started tying them together and made this lopsided, free form granny. It was fun working with the different weights and textures all in one piece. Now what to do with it. Ideas, anyone?

How big is it? My cats would probably like to shed all over it. I mean that in the most cat pleasing way because they love to sleep on texture and lumps - in otherwords a granny made from scraps.

Good question Kara. It's 7-8 inches across. I'm sure my Gus would love to turn it into his own personal fun toy, too.

Annie,

Dunno what to use it for, but it looks Native American to me, like the Lakota Four Directions/Colors Wheel, with a bit more color thrown in perhaps, and buffalo hair ringing the outside.

P. S. I tagged you. See my blog.

Annie, It looks a lot like life! New and bright in the middle when we start out small, then as time goes bye we get a little more lopsided and frayed yet the autumn colours show exactly were we have been, never forgetting were we have come from.

I think you should hang it on your wall I love it.

I'm not good at this sort of thing. I don't know what to suggest. I'm sorry, but this just isn't something I know how to do. Some people are good at this. Not me.

Well, that's TWO reflecting back on Native American themes. I'm thinking that I just might have myself a wallhanging. Thanks!

I agree with Lee-Ann and I love what you did. When I find things like that or something I totally forgot about, I have tons of fun playing with it again. So I share your feeling. Yay! for playing time!

You know, have it as a "talking point". Yep, that is right, display it prominently. Ask people what they think it is. I am sure you will come across different perceptions. I loved that of Lee-Ann, that it pesonifies life! Oh, please do keep it away from your cat. Hope she is better now.

What a great idea ... a conversation piece. I think that is exactly what it is and should be displayed on your wall!

They're beautiful colours, and it looks so lovely and fluffy, I would hang it over the back of the sofa and bury my face in it from time to time, although it would be a shame if it got flattened down with use, perhaps the wall would be better. I've never come across this meaning of the word granny before.

Make a pillow out of it, by adding backing and then stuffing it.

I think a pillow or just displaying it on a dark wood table. a simple blue vase in the middle might be nice too.
