Celebrating My Body

I used to hate being on the lens side of the camera. I was the one always taking pictures. I hated the way I would look in pictures. I was convinced that I ruined pictures. Then in early June I decide to leave my sleeve covered arms behind and get comfortable. I started going sleeveless. It was so freeing. Completely liberating. I decided I could look solemn and unsmiling or just sorta smiling at Quanah's wedding OR I could bust out with happiness. I could let the smiles rain out over whatever camera was pointed in my direction. End result? Some terrrific pictures of ME.

Yesterday I had lunch with Biene and we walked to the campus store for drinks. As we went over the footbridge behind the music building, I threw my hands into the air just glorying in the fabulous day it was. The next thing I knew, out came the camera. I had to record this. I wanted to love my body. Accept my body. Hug it and take care of it.

Thanks Biene for being on the spot to take these pictures.

The very first thing that I noticed was your face - Annie, you look radiant! You simply glow with youthful energy! You go, Girl! You look fabulous.

I would be as daring but we have ordinances against me. The village will put the torches and pitch forks in their sheds just as long as I promise to not go sleeveless. Really, it is sensible; my arms frighten wildlife and I have only just overcome my fear of fire and my penchant for handing little girls field flowers. In addition, the village is rather fond of our windmill. I am far better off than my cousin - she showed her legs and was banished to a bell tower.

I am being facetious. We are not that bad. I simply lack the nerve and I humbly bow to the fact that your arms look far better than my own. *smile*

My pleasure, Annie! There are some events so appropriate for photo ops and this was one. I feel vindicated for all those crappy photos I have ever taken in my life!!!!

I love, love, LOVE these pictures of you!!!! They show you embracing life to the fullest...who cares if we don't have model thin figures with skinny arms and legs, we have every right to enjoy being ALIVE!! Yes, dear Annie, keep on twirling and smiling!!! xox

I remember when you posted pictures of the wedding, the first thing I noticed was that you were sleeveless and I thought to myself you go girl!. I'm loving these photos. You truly look as if you can't contain your joy a moment longer. What a sense of freedom! :)

You look glowing and free and radiant ....it is that the photos captured! I go sleeveless now and although with much trepidation it IS cooler. I dare not step in front of the camera lens though for fear the camera will cease working. LOL! Actually I long for the freedom of spirit you showed in these photos....it truly shows on your happy face, wonderful face! I'm so glad Biene was there to lend a hand.
XOXOXO

It is always better to chose joy! It brightens everyone up! Wherever you go, a smile is much better than not. I love the positive out look. And You did it so fast. For me it takes years usually.

Dear Annie,

WONDERFUL, WONDERFUL! I wish I had the courage to wear sleeveless things. I do at home but not in public!

You are beautiful Annie. Look at this woman in this last picture. I did not meet her in Placerville. Your freedom is setting your beauty free. Congratulations and keep it up. You are so re-defining yourself. It is a joy to watch.
