I love the taste of your skin – warm, a bit salty and always the sweetness of pulled taffy.
I smell the warm taffy and I want to take a cooking class with you.
A candied dessert would be perfect.
I love the way your hair curls at the nape of your neck
drawing me to the smell that I love of you fresh from a shower
before you splash yourself with aftershave.
The world doesn’t exist when we tuck into the corners
of our sofa - talking, sharing silences,
lingering over our coffee and tea.
I love it when you surprise me with a tender, unexpected touch;
your voice whispering like some 19C woodsman -
slow, thoughtful, slightly nasal;
your eyes the memory of some ancestral Welchman come to life.
I curl into you,
folding my hand into yours and I go to sleep
lulled by the sound of your breath.
You make me feel safe;
I finally believe that you will never disappoint me,
never betray me.

Wow, this is lovely. Some really breathtaking images too. Thanks for sharing your gifts.
That's some love poem! So many are terribly generic but yours has such specific examples that they bring the poem to life.

Ahhh. Lovely gift - to give and receive.
What a 'cosy' poem! Almost makes me wish I wasn't single - but not quite!
Hello Gawpo's friend Annie of Turlock, well written piece of delicious love induced poetry.

What a lovely poem! I love the intimacy and specificity of the imagery.
Romantic but not soft and fuzzy. I really like that. Tell me, though, what is a "19C woodsman"? Shorthand for nineteenth-century?
Hello Annie - catching up with you, I can tell the workshop has woven it's spell smiles *!*
Just beautiful... I love the line, "curling into you" oh to have this kind of intimacy is one of the most precious gifts of all... Thank you AnnieElf...

A joy to read! The gentleness of the love in this poem is almost palpable. I especially like that you express a the tenderness of love rather than just the passion as so many romantic poems do. Thank you for these delicious words.
Beautiful love.
Your poem is wonderful. Its images remind me of what my husband and I share - thank you.
So well expressed. This is the true love I have with my husband too. Ahh yes, a gift!
