A couple of months ago I asked Don to make a cross for me. I had the idea of making a mosaic to reproduce a cross I saw a while back in an antique shop but I only got as far as staining it. The stained cross pictured here is the base layer of what is evolving into a three layered cross.
When I caved and finally joined Pinterest, my explorations introduced me to some creative inspiration for the cross. I tried different things with my various bits and bobs of broken jewelry and other ephemera but nothing clicked. Then a few days ago I found myself at Michael’s and found the perfect unfinished cross to create a layered look. As I left, I spotted a little wood heart, also unfinished.
The three of them together now make the foundation for Step Two of my painted cross project. Once I decide on colors, I’ll get it started. But where I’m concerned with all things creative, this one will no doubt continue to steep for a while.

Dear Annie,
Thanks for your nice and comforting comments on my blog tonight. (Now's midnight)
I know from your other works that you lay lots and lots of thoughts and concern in the creative process.
it is so interesting following the step by step thinking and planning. I'm looking forwards to be following you along the "road."
a beautiful cross! the layered look looks great...good luck with your new project!
I can't wait to see it finished. Will you share the "in process" pics.
Have a happy Saturday.
I love watching your projects grow... this is lovely Annie!
Sometimes creative ideas just have to steep don't they? You have a marvelous beginning tho.

Ah! Enjoy the creative process Annie. Steeping is good! Each creative piece tells a story and we put a little bit of ourselves into it as well. That's the fun of it isn't it, especially when it has spiritual aspects.
Thanks for your recent kind comments.
Hey I'm visiting an abby today - St. Andrews - have you heard of it?
That is - if I don't get sidetracked into doing something else.
How exciting! I think it will be wonderful.
I'm on Pinterest, but I never have time to pin things on my board! Or look at anyone else's!
