A Plague on Man

Religious hate is a disease. Muslim fanaticism has lead to destruction and murder throughout the Muslim world. The crazy Baptist preacher (in Florida these days???) spews his hate and provokes others and stirs their fear into hate. Now we have the Nepalese protesting and demanding the safety of an artist who has received death threats over his depiction of Hindu deities. Religious hate is no different from a plague. One kills the body. The other kills the soul.

Annie,
this all makes me sick in my soul. What in the world in wrong with these fanatical factions...sending thoughts of peace, understanding and inclusiveness.

I sometimes wonder if this one of the reasons I am here now... to learn to choose love when I have the choice between acting on love or acting on hate or fear... I feel so hopeless with these world situations... but I do not feel hopeless in the choices I have...

pretty incredible isn't it?...and all so unnecessary...

Yup. Spot on. And, to carry it a degree further, the incident in Libya was fostered by someone's desecration of their religious symbol -- clearly a "hate" effort. It's sad everywhere.

It is such a shame what men do to other men in the name of their religion.

Hi Annie,

I am glad that you've said something about this. You're totally right, any kind of religious hatred leads to violence and death. I watch the news daily and see that things everywhere - from the American who made the video, to the people on the streets of Tahrir Square who are so violently demonstrating against it. Yet nothing is being done, no one is getting any wiser to such hatred - it just continues in the same fashion that it has since time immemorial.

If only people (all over the world, regardless of creed) would be a little wiser to the control that their religious leaders are having over them and act with a bit more compassion, eh?

Thanks for this post!
