Mother/Daughter Time

Mid-November started celebration madness at our house.  When the kids were young, it started at Halloween and it didn't let up until New Years.  But those days are over.  Since my birthday, on November 18th, starts the ball rolling, Kris kidnapped me and we ended up in Modesto at Color Me Mine, one of those fun little places where you go in and paint bisque fired ceramic ware.  Then they fire it for you to pick up a few days later.

Here's The Before

I had never done this before so I really had no idea how this would turn out. I finally settled on a clam shell bowl  and Krista chose a travel mug with jacket and cover.  I didn't realize until half way through the painting process that she was making it for me.  Quelle suprise!

What's really funny is that we chose very similar colors.  I chose two colors of blue and a beachy color for the inside.  Kris chose teals and cranberries and cremes.  We stamped designs on and signed the bottoms.  Happy 65  2012  Birthday on mine; happy B'day Mom on hers.

Aren't they pretty how they turned out?
Thanks, Sweetie, for a fun afternoon.

Of course, like I said, this was just the start.  Thanksgiving  is always an adventure because not only is it Thanksgiving, but somewhere in the mix (sometimes ON Thanksgiving) we have Krista's birthday.  This year it was on Sunday the 25th (just a week after mine).  Don and I with Kris and Adrian double-dated to see Lincoln; then we late lunched at Angelini's and the finish was Mass.  It was the finish of a very busy weekend.

And still to come?

Don's birthday December 15th
Quanah's birthday December 16th
Our Anniversary December 17th

Yes, you read that right. LOL

And of course . . .
Christmas

Your family brings a whole other level of celebration to Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas! What fun things to celebrate though, it is lovely, especially the joy it brings to you. And I love what you and Krista made together. It was fun seeing the before and afters. XO

What a fun day! I like both the items that you and Krista created.

My autumn used to be like yours. From Halloween on through the first of the year it was non-stop holidays and birthdays, We still have several during that time period...but it's fun.

First of all, happy belated birthday. I must not have been online the day FB had it (unless you don't have it listed there). I would have sent many greetings!

I love the idea of painting the pottery and especially with Kris! It's a great idea and I love your piece!
