This and That

I was out and about earlier this week and spotted a couple of murals in town.  The one above is a work in progress on a storage shed opposite the mural below.

This mural is on the La Morenita parking lot.  La Morenita is a chain of family owned restaurants in our area.  I remember taking the kids to the original La M's in Ceres, just up the road from us.  The old location is gone now but is relocated down the street from the original in a new building.  I was there recently and it just seemed to have lost its charm.  However, the location in Turlock is the one and only location here.  Good food.  Good prices.  Nice family.  I love the mural they had painted on their parking lot wall.

The alyssum use to cover this area of the front yard like a blanket of billowy cotton but no more.  After a season of hoping it would come back, only the small batch to the left remains.  The yard men visited this morning after they left, I immediately headed over to Orchard Supply and Hardware and came home with five pots of native grasses.  I'll put them in the ground later this evening when it has cooled down a bit.

I just love murals, and they are such easy photo subjects. And I think I would eat in any place with a mural like this one!

A wonderful find. I bet the grasses will be beautiful in the garden, too!
