First Kiss

Fifteen and eager.
Fifteen and fearless
Fifteen and immortal.

On the beach bonfires burn
Music plays
Laughter
A meeting of strangers.

False names
A friend's urging
They're so cute
What's the harm?

Canyon dark
Unfamiliar sounds at my back
Fifteen and fearful
Fifteen and curious

Closed mouth
Awkward
Eyes opened, eyes closed

First kiss.

Annie,
I loved this and it made me think of my first "real kiss" I was just wondering about that guy and whatever happened to him..

How sweet is this?! I love that you've captured it in a poem; more words would not have conveyed the same sense of innocence.

How beautiful Annie! Your poetry is very powerful with the fears of that first kiss. XXOO

ps

I have come back here many times to look at this shadow image...and just now it clicked...there seems to be a form of a heart in the light of the shadow...do you see it?

YES, Corey. I do see the stylized shape of a heart. I had not looked that closely before. Thanks for seeing it and pointing it out for us.

Nice and romantic though I was starting to worry for the narrators safety for a moment in the canyon...
